Peer Review Process

Al-‘Allāmah: Journal of Scriptures and Ulama Studies accepts articles derived from original research in the fields of religious and socio-cultural studies, particularly those that engage with scriptural scholarship and the intellectual traditions of the ulama. This journal applies a double-blind peer review process, in which both reviewers and authors remain anonymous throughout the evaluation to ensure objectivity and fairness. Each submitted manuscript is reviewed by at least one independent reviewer appointed by the editorial board according to the article’s topic and scope.

Reviewers are allotted two weeks to complete their assessment. The Editorial Board will carefully consider the reviewers’ recommendations to determine the next stage of the manuscript process. When a manuscript requires revisions—either minor or major—it will be returned to the author for improvement. Authors are given three to six weeks to revise manuscripts that require major revisions, while those with minor revisions are allotted one week.

In making the final decision, the editor takes into account the reviewers’ comments and determines whether the manuscript is accepted, accepted with revisions, conditionally accepted after major revisions, recommended for resubmission, or rejected. Manuscripts accepted without changes are published in their original form, while those accepted with minor or major revisions must be adjusted according to the reviewers’ and editors’ suggestions before publication. Manuscripts requiring substantial revision may be resubmitted for another round of review, whereas those deemed unsuitable will not be reconsidered for publication.
